Located in San Pa Thong District, this site is one of the ancient excavated towns in the environs of Chiang Mai city. It consists of an over 1000 year old locate in the shape of a rectangle. Three of its sides are still embraced by the remains of a wall and moat. Many sandstone and terracotta Buddha images, and other amulets, shards of brown jars with bones andfragments of Chinese porcelais were dug up in the area, where many ruined temples in the Hariphunchai and lanna styles are dotted around. You can get there by just following the Chiang Mai – Hod Road to Baan Tung Siew, San Pa Thong District (about 26 kilometres from city), then turn left at the crossroad near Tung Siew Market, and follow the road for about 1.5 kilometres to reach Wiang Tha Kan.
